Schools

The Sea Cliff public school system began in 1883 with a four-room, brick, grade school building on Franklin Avenue. In 1912, the old building was torn down, and the present building was erected on Carpenter Avenue. This building, which underwent a large renovation in 2002, now houses the Sea Cliff Elementary School (grades k-5), which is part of North Shore School District.

The North Shore School System is one of the main attractions for young families moving to Sea Cliff. With its small class size and high percentage of students going on to college, North Shore Schools are well respected on Long Island.

Senior Services

Sea Cliff has extensive services for our Senior Citizen population. In fact we strive to be a model community supporting independent living and aging in place. To this end the Village has a Plan that outlines our focus, defines our goals and drives our services. We provide support in the following areas: housing, health and wellness, transportation, information and referrals, safety, and recreation and life-long learning.

The Village has multiple offices, organizations and volunteers that coordinate to build this system of support. We consider our system to be akin to a senior center without walls. This website will outline available services in our Village.

Sea Cliff Senior Outreach Network

The mission of the Senior Outreach network is to support an age-friendly community through volunteer and inter-departmental collaboration with a commitment to promote successful, healthy aging and inspired community life. Senior Outreach serves as an information portal and referral base.  Seniors and/or their family members may call to seek information or referrals for a range of resources.

The Village of Sea Cliff seeks to ensure that seniors have access to essential services and resources that will assist them in meeting their individual needs and enhance their quality of life. Referrals can be made to appropriate agencies that assist seniors with the complexities of discharge planning and the many challenges of independent living, as well as entitlement eligibility and applications for: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps), HEAP and Medicare Extra Help. Every fall there is a special information session regarding Medicare Open Enrollment provided by the Health Insurance Information and Counseling Program (HIICAP). The office also informs seniors of the wide variety of senior programs offered by the Village, its surrounding communities, and the County.
